Nov 20, 2025 | 12:00 AM

The Southeast Alberta Chamber of Commerce is hosting Midnight Madness to support local businesses in downtown Medicine Hat and kick off the holiday season one week before Black Friday.

Midnight Madness takes place Nov. 21, 2025, from 4 p.m. to midnight.

The tree-lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. is the first event of the night, with Medicine Hat Mayor Linnsie Clark lighting the tree at Batus Park.

The main events include:

  • The Monarch Theatre will show Home Alone with a $5 entry fee. Doors open at 6 p.m., the movie begins at 7 p.m., and the concession will be open for cash only.
  • Hay rides with stops at the Esplanade from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • A petting zoo from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and a colouring contest from 4 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Chamber of Commerce office.

More than 80 businesses will be open downtown for a night of shopping, live entertainment, giveaways and food and drinks.

Southeast Alberta Chamber of Commerce events manager Brad Tajiri said Midnight Madness is one of the best nights of the year.

“It’s a pretty special feeling to be able to help organize this and work with the downtown stakeholders,” Tajiri said.

“Putting on an event that so many people in the community come down and enjoy and look forward to every year is very special.”

Tajiri said it’s great to see everything come together.

“The downtown business owners and stakeholders are the ones who are using their passion for their business and their creativity to showcase to people,” Tajiri said.

“It’s really cool to see all of the pride that the business owners have in their business.”
