The BCHL’s Brooks Bandits have signed 2006-born defenceman Kolby Gapter from the WHL’s Vancouver Giants.

The 6-foot-1, 200-pound defenceman has played 44 games in the WHL with the Giants, with one assist and 40 penalty minutes.

He was selected in the second round of the 2021 WHL U.S. Prospects Draft by the Tigers and was traded to Vancouver during the 2024 trade deadline.

Gapter, from Arvada, Colorado, played two seasons with the South Alberta Hockey Academy U18 Prep program in Medicine Hat from 2022 to 2024.

In 68 games with SAHA, he scored six goals, 25 assists, and 31 points, winning a Circle K Championship during the 2022-23 season with Bandits teammates goaltender Zach Zahara and forward Brett Calhoun.

Calhoun, who was also a Tigers prospect at the time, was added to the Bandits roster in early October, after playing a pair of games with the WHL’s Red Deer Rebels.

He has only skated in one contest and is currently listed as injured.

On Thursday, the Bandits made a pair of deals.

First, the team announced that they have traded forward Andreas Mikrogiannakis to the Langley Rivermen in exchange for future considerations. Following that up with a trade of defenseman Max Davidson to the Surrey Eagles in exchange for future considerations.

Mikrogiannakis appeared in six games with the Bandits this season, registering two points. Davidson played in five games with the Bandits and also registered two points.

The next game for the Bandits is Friday, Oct. 24, when they visit the Sherwood Park Crusaders at 7 p.m.

The Bandits will host the Salmon Arm Silverbacks on Saturday, Oct. 25, at the Centennial Regional Arena at 7 p.m.
