Two individuals charged after motor vehicle theft in Medicine Hat

Medicine Hat Police Service received a report on Monday, Oct. 20, 2025, at about 1:25 a.m., that a vehicle had been stolen from a resident on Stapeford Crescent Southeast.

Police responded and found the stolen vehicle near Cocks Way Southeast, with two individuals in proximity.

When an officer activated emergency lights, both individuals ran from the scene on foot but were apprehended and taken into custody.

Officers recovered cash, various bank cards, and weapons.

As a result of the investigation, a 34-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman, both from Medicine Hat, were charged with resisting arrest, possession of stolen property, and theft of a motor vehicle.

Additionally, the man was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a prohibited weapon, two counts of possession of controlled substances, and three counts of breach of a firearms prohibition.

Both individuals were held for a judicial interim release hearing.

The man was remanded into custody, while the woman was released on a release order to appear in court on Nov. 13, 2025.
