Medicine Hat councillor candidate Toth wanting to move city forward

David Toth, 59, was born and raised in Medicine Hat. Toth worked in the community for 39 years at Goodyear and at the Medicine Hat Drag Racing Association while being the president.

This is Toth’s first time running for council.

Toth is wanting to see improvements in Medicine Hat’s growth and would like the Medicine Hat council to make strong decisions in their power to expand the community.

“We can can go look for work, look for industry, look for business. Give incentives to get people to come here to open up businesses and industry and create jobs and tax base, keep our youth living here with good jobs. They don’t have to move away,” Toth said.

Toth recognizes that Medicine Hat has a shortage in affordable housing and said there’s lots of solutions.

“[We need to] get rid of the red tape we have in this city, and make developing everything permits a lot quicker and faster, so we can move forward [with affordable housing],” Toth said.

Crime in Medicine Hat is another issue Toth is recognizing.

“There are Medicine Hat residents with addictions] not getting real rehabilitation, feels like they’re just getting back out on the streets when they get caught stealing, that needs to be dealt with,” Toth said.

Toth says he has a very good understanding about businesses and how to get deals done.

“I think that’s an asset that we need, and not afraid to get in there and get this job done, to get the city hopefully moving forward again,” Toth said.

Toth said he brings a common sense approach to the council and wants to see Medicine Hat improve again.
