The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has made another large-scale drug bust.

On Monday officers at the Coutts port of entry were conducting a secondary inspection of a commercial truck that was attempting to enter Canada from the United States.

During the search, CBSA officers allegedly found a duffel bag that contained nearly 67 kilograms of cocaine.

Janalee Bell-Boychuk, Regional Director General for the Prairie Region at the CBSA said the seizure at the Coutts port of entry demonstrates the effectiveness of CBSA’s detection capabilities and the important role its officers play to keep communities safe.

“We remain committed to securing and protecting our border alongside our law enforcement partners,” Bell-Boychuck said.

A 49-year old man from Edmonton, is charged with one count each of importing a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, and smuggling into Canada.

The man made his first appearance in Lethbridge court on July 31.
