City of Medicine Hat updates construction map, adds capital projects tracker

The City of Medicine Hat updated its live construction map for 2025 with more interactive features and added a new map that tracks capital projects.

Sandeep Pareek, manager of engineering for the Municipal Works division, said the maps provide information to residents in an easy format.

“These maps that have been developed are more user-friendly, they’re more interactive,” Pareek said.

The Road Construction and Closures Map shows active and future projects — elements that change with when zooming into areas of the city.

It displays the types of closures for roads, alleys and sidewalks as separate categories.

The refreshed construction map also helps to inform the CHAT News construction live page.

The Capital Project Map is an interactive tracker that shows where the projects are, what the timeline is and how much they cost.

Residents will see some crossover between the two maps but not every item is the same.

For example, the $1.2-million Hill Pool renewal initiative at First Avenue Southwest and Seventh Street Southwest is not a roadway matter.

Pareek said the maps help keep the public informed with the right information.
