St. Mary River Irrigation District says paper bills won’t be mailed amid postal strike

The St. Mary River Irrigation District said Friday that paper bills will not be mailed and payment deadlines remain the same amid an ongoing Canada Post labour disruption.

Water conveyance invoices will be issued by the end of December and are due back by Feb. 28.

Invoices for Bow Island Lateral 12, household purposes agreements and reservoir access permits will arrive in January and are also due back at the end of February.

Invoices for Taber leases will be sent by January and are due back April 1.

Payment options include paying cash or cheque in-person at the irrigation district’s Bow Island, Taber or Lethbridge offices.

Debit cards are only accepted at the Taber and Lethbridge locations, according to a SMRID news release.

Payees can set up an online banking payment through participating banks.

Payments can also be accepted by e-transfer using the email jlam@SMRID.com, with the SMRID account number as the password.
