Medicine Hat Tigers Forward Gavin McKenna is one step closer to representing Canada at the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship.

McKenna is the only Tigers player named to the world junior selection camp roster on Monday morning.

McKenna is fresh off a seven point, two game weekend, which included a hat trick against the Calgary Hitmen on Saturday.

McKenna remains at the top of the CHL and WHL in points with 55 in 27 games.

During an interview with CHAT TV News earlier in the season McKenna spoke about his desire to make the world junior team.

“The opportunity to play for Team Canada during Christmas time in the world juniors. That’s been a goal of mine since I was a little kid,” McKenna said.

“I’m going to push every single day to hopefully reach that goal this year.”

Invited are 32 players (18 forwards, 10 defensemen, 4 goalies) competing for a spot on the final roster, which will represent Canada in Ottawa later this month.

The selection camp runs Dec. 10-13 at TD Place in Ottawa.
