Medicine Hat College’s Valk sits in third after two rounds at nationals

Michael Valk of the Medicine Hat College Rattlers golf team is three strokes off the leader after two days at the CCAA Golf National Championship hosted by Humber College.

Valk, a long time resident of Medicine Hat is tied for third at 5-over par through two rounds at Redcrest Golf Club, just north of Toronto, Ont.

Shooting a 3-over par 74 on Wednesday, one stroke worse than his 2-over par 72 on Tuesday.

Valk tees off at 11:20 a.m. EST on Thursday for his third round.

The fourth and final round will be on Friday.

Valk is the back-to-back Men’s Individual Golf Champion, ACAC Golfer of the Year, ACAC All-Conference winner, named to ACAC Men’s Team Bronze, and included in ACAC Mixed Team Bronze.

This will be the Medicine Hat College student’s final tournament as a Rattler.

The Rattlers have four other men competing at the event.

Rylan Montgomery sits in 46th at 27-over par, Rylan Hodgson in 28th at 28-over par, Jace Shannon tied for 49th with 34-over par, while Keelan Burzminski is in the 51st position at 37-over par.

A pair of Rattlers women are also competing at the event.

Kiara Ressor sits in 15th at 56-over par and Taryn Sanderson is in 17th at 65-over par.
