A pair of Medicine Hat Tigers were among the 44 players Hockey Canada announced to represent their country at the 2024 U17 World Challenge in Sarnia, Ont.

Twin brothers and Tigers forwards Liam and Markus Ruck will play for Team Canada White.

Liam said they found out when they got a call from the assistant coach.

“Super exciting news for both of us we just can’t wait for this opportunity,” Liam said.

Markus said there are so many skilled guys who have made the roster.

“Hard workers too, so just being in that category, it’s super special. It’s a great feeling and just trying to compete with them every day, it’s awesome,” Markus said.

“It’s a huge opportunity, got to make the most of it. We are super pumped to have that opportunity and now it’s our job to make the most of it.”

Early this Western Hockey League season, Liam has scored one goal in five games, while Markus has found the back of the net twice in six games.

The tournament begins Nov. 1 for Team Canada White with a game against the United States.

Games will run through to Nov. 9.
