A gear swap, an autumn market and a Medicine Hat Tigers rematch will make for a busy weekend in Medicine Hat.

Here is what’s on during the weekend of Oct. 4-6 in Medicine Hat and area:

⛷ Ski swap

The fifth annual ski swap by the Canadian Ski Patrol is on this weekend.

Equipment consignment and registration runs Friday from from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Southridge YMCA.

The trade show and sale takes place on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The show is an opportunity for Hatters to turn used equipment into cash and get some great bargains on new and used ski and snowboard gear.

🛍 Boo Basket Market

The autumn-themed Boo Basket Market is taking place on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.

It will feature local artisans offering unique self-care items, games, time with animals and exploration of the grounds.

Admission is free, according to the event page.

🤠 Cowboy poetry

The Western Music and Cowboy Poetry Event is taking place at Medicine Hat College Friday and Saturday.

A free open mic night gets underway at 7 p.m. on Friday.

The Saturday afternoon show costs $10 to attend. There will also be a silent auction.

Tickets to the Saturday evening show at 7 p.m. costs $25.

Those interested can spend $30 for a discounted ticket to both shows.

🐅 Tigers action

The Medicine Hat Tigers will have a third try at beating the Red Deer Rebels, a team they haven’t found success against for two matchups in a row.

That game will be in Red Deer on Friday night before playing the Moose Jaw Warriors at Co-op Place on Saturday at 7 p.m.

Tune into the game live on Wild 94.5.

🏥 Health van

The Man Van, Canada’s first mobile men’s health clinic, will be in Medicine Hat on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at London Drugs.

It offers free blood testing used for early detection of prostate cancer for men between the ages of 40 to 70.

There’s no appointment necessary.

There will also be a Southland Transportation school bus available to rest and for for shelter.

Plus, sausages and coffee will be served.

The clinical team from the Man Van also offers a mental wellness check which assesses depression and suicide risk and symptoms.

CIBC Run for the Cure

A run looking to make a difference for those impacted by breast cancer takes place this Sunday.

The 33rd annual Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure is hosted in 53 communities across the country, including Medicine Hat.

Individuals have the option to do either a one kilometre or five kilometre run.
