Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure at Kin Coulee Park on Sunday

Oct 4, 2024 | 1:02 PM

A run looking to make a difference for those impacted by breast cancer takes place this Sunday.

The 33rd annual Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure is hosted in 53 communities across the country, including Medicine Hat.

Individuals have the option to do either a one kilometre or five kilometre run.

A 30-minute program will follow registration with the run underway at 10 a.m.

On average 84 Canadian Women are diagnosed with Breast Cancer each day.

Jamie Scott, volunteer run director for the Medicine Hat event, says registration will be between 8:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. near the Kin Coulee Band Shelter for those who sign up online.

“The run is open to anybody who wants to participate as long as they sign up online for the $45 fee. We aren’t able to take donations on site,” Scott said.

“It just makes things run a lot more smoothly that way overall, and by all means bring a pet with you, the only catch there is your pet must be leashed and we’re not going to stop anybody who feels they would rather cycle or roller blade.”

Visit cibcrunforthecure.com to register or donate today.

The group is also looking for a few additional volunteers.
