Brooks hosting annual food and culture event Saturday

Sep 16, 2024 | 3:26 PM

The City of Brooks is hosting its annual cultural food event on Saturday as part of September’s Alberta Culture Days.

Taste of the Nations, first held in 2012, showcases food and culture from many countries around the world, as shared by Brooks residents.

There will be a stage show, hosted by the SPEC Association for Children and Families and Brooks and County Immigration Services, will feature a fashion show and different cultural dances.

The event takes place over an afternoon and is attended by upwards of 3,000 people.

It runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sept. 21 at the JBS Canada Centre Fieldhouse. Admission is free and food prices vary by vendor.

It’s a perfect example of inter-cultural community building as residents from Canada and around the world come together to learn and appreciate one another through the sights, sounds and flavours of other cultures.

It is Brooks’ most popular event of the year and it continues to grow and receive recognition.

This year, there will also be take out containers available for sale to help combat food waste and allow attendees to take food from their favourite countries home.
