‘We’re all one’: Hatters bond over classic muscle car

A mutual love for cars created a cross-generational connection in Medicine Hat recently.

Josh Cole, who recently graduated from Eagle Butte High School, was at the Saamis Teepee to take a photo of a cat.

That’s when he saw a classic Chevrolet Impala SS.

“I saw the gorgeous vehicle and I just had to approach…just to see if I could take any pictures,” Cole said.

Elaine, the owner of the Impala, was happy to oblige, he said.

“She was more than happy for me to take a couple photos. She even asked me if I had a couple tips, and I was more than happy to give her the little information that I know.”

The Impala, a symbol of American muscle, is hugely sentimental to Elaine. Cole, touched by her connection to the car, decided to print off the photos of the car for her to keep.

“Long story short, we gave her the prints and her reaction was priceless,” Cole wrote as her shared the photos to social media.

He wanted to share the photos broadly to promote unity in the community amid so much division in the world.

“I thought it would be a good idea to just post it online…to show the community that we’re all one,” he told CHAT News from in front of the teepee.

“We can all take pictures of each other’s cars, and it would just be an awesome experience.”
