St. Mary’s School briefly placed on hold-and-secure

St. Mary’s School in Medicine Hat was put in a hold-and-secure for a brief period Thursday morning.

It was issued at 11:15 a.m. before being cleared at 11:47 a.m., according to the Medicine Hat Catholic Board of Education.

The school board did not confirm any specifics and instead issued a general description for the use of a hold-and-secure.

A hold and secure is used in response to potential threats outside the school building and all the doors are locked for the duration of the alert.
