Upcoming Alberta RCMP recruiting event promoting diversity

EDMONTON, AB – The Alberta RCMP is holding a virtual career event on November 29, 2023, which will encourage visible minorities to join the policing service.

Attendees will be able to speak to current frontline workers who are minorities. They will also learn about the RCMP application process in-depth.

Officials said that recruiting is a highly important aspect of the Alberta RCMP’s efforts to strengthen its workforce. The RCMP said that high levels of representation makes the organization more knowledgeable, effective and connected to its communities.

Staff Sargeant Shawn Boutin said, “A diverse police force fosters trust, cooperation, and an improved ability to address the needs of all Albertans, which is why we encourage people of all backgrounds to apply.”

Registration for virtual event, to be held on Microsoft Teams, can be done via email.
