City Council discusses interim electrical rate

MEDICINE HAT, AB–Medicine Hat City Council is looking for ways to lower electrical rates.

At Monday night’s meeting, council passed first reading of an amendment of the Electrical Utility bylaw that would see interim best market electric energy rates set every three months.

Customers currently on contracts would be transferred to the new best market default rate. However, Hatters would have 30 days after the effective date of the bylaw amendment to revert back to their contract if they choose.

The amendment still has to be debated and Hatters will have their say on the proposed changes.
