MEDICINE HAT, AB –

Three City of Medicine Hat construction projects are scheduled to start today.

At the Lions Park baseball diamond, work begins on an accessible asphalt trail to connect the eastern edge of the diamond area to the Strathcona parking lot. The city says it will create an easily navigable path for people in wheelchairs or other mobility limitations.

Work is also starting on the rehabilitation of the culvert and asphalt trail at Ross Glen Coulee. A drainage trench, tile drain and a corrugated steel pipe culvert will be added at three points to the drainage system and overall structural stability.

The work areas at both projects will be fenced off.

Finally, work on the irrigation system along 13th Avenue SE between 22nd Street and 28th Street is beginning. The upgrade aims to incorporate water-saving techniques and improve the aesthetic appeal of the area.

The service road will be temporarily closed to residential traffic during the work.

People are asked to be safe around the work zones and obey all construction signage and personnel. The anticipated completion for all projects is in October.
