MEDICINE HAT, AB – Macky Allard had a love for motorcycles. She shared that passion with the rest of her family who also love motorcycles. For Macky Allard, riding a motorcycle with her family was a time where she could be herself and be her happiest.

“Our family has always been into motorcycles. Ever since I can remember, I loved motorcycles and it just kinda rubbed off on Macky and even my other kids love to ride. We loved going for rides with grandma and grandpa and all the other families,” Arlen Allard said on Friday.

Macky’s life came to a sudden end in December. She experienced excessive bullying at school, something parents Arlen and Chrissy Allard have wanted schools and other parents to take more seriously.

“She was a beautiful soul and she should be here right now,” Chrissy Allard said tearfully.

Bikers are Buddies decided that the Allards needed to say goodbye to their beloved daughter in a way that would make Macky smile. A motorcycle ride was held for Macky’s funeral procession on Friday to give her the opportunity for one final ride, something that deeply moved Arlen and Chrissy.

“She’d be smiling, she would be proud. She would be like, ‘Wow, you really did this?’ Everyone came together for her because she had that big of an impact on everyone,” Chrissy added.

Macky was particularly fond of sports bikes, her father Arlen saying that as long as it was fast, she was one hundred percent into it, although she loved motorcycles altogether. Macky enjoyed every moment that she got to ride.

Arlen and Chrissy have also wanted to help spread awareness on the effects that bullying has on kids. They encourage kids to talk to their parents instead of keeping quiet. Chrissy stated that she doesn’t want other parents to endure the tragedy that they have faced.

The Allard family have been moved by all the support that they have received from the community since Macky’s passing and they hope to see change in schools immediately.

“Seriously, thank you for coming together for us because there are good people left,” Chrissy tearfully remarked.

“One guy told me ‘leather is leather, bikers cry too’ so today there is going to be a lot of tears,” Arlen added.

The procession started from the Medicine Hat High School parking lot at 10 a.m. and finished at St. Barnabas Church.
