MEDICINE HAT, AB – Medicine Hat police say a serious incident in Strathcona Island Park on Friday has been resolved after about five hours.
Just before 2 p.m., Medicine Hat Police Services posted on social media that a suspect had been safely taken into custody.
On Friday morning, police blocked off the main entrance to the park and asked the public to avoid the area. Officers were also stationed near Medalta along Industrial Avenue and a drone was launched to assist with the incident. Police said a suspect from an earlier incident fled to the park and had been contained to an isolated area of the park while negotiations took place.
They say more details will be released when available.
