Dunmore unveiling its brand new outdoor recreation facility

DUNMORE, AB – A new place for people to have fun is being unveiled in Dunmore this evening. A ribbon-cutting event will be hosted at Sunrise Park in Dunmore to officially open the new facility. Events include a live band performing, numerous activities for kids, as well as food and desserts to celebrate the grand opening.

Jody Phillips, secretary of the Dunmore Community Association, says that the project is three years in the making. The plan was proposed in 2020 and construction started in 2021.

Phillips says that the facility will have a great impact on the community and hopes that it can help Dunmore’s ability to host events in the community.

“We’ve never had a facility in our community where we can actually hold events at, so this is going to be a jewel in our community for decades,” Phillips said Friday.

Phillips says that the project would not have been possible without the overwhelming support of businesses within Dunmore and the Medicine Hat area.

“This project has truly been a combined effort between community volunteers, local businesses, and of course, Cypress County. It is just a game-changer in our community to have a facility like this and we’re absolutely thrilled that it’s done and we can celebrate it tonight,” Phillips added.

The ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m. and run until 11 p.m.
