MEDICINE HAT, AB – Playing in your hometown arena is a childhood dream come true for athletes lucky enough to do so, like Caleb Wyrostok.

The right winger in his fourth Western Hockey League season with the Swift Current Broncos, he’s also a Medicine Hat local.

On Tuesday, Wyrostok and the Swift Current Broncos defeated the Medicine Hat Tigers 5-2 in Central Division action.

The 19-year old has suited up in five WHL games in his hometown arena, recording three goals at Co-op Place.

“Pretty much my whole childhood I was at Tigers games, at the old Arena, then, Co-op Place,” said Wyrostok, post-game on Tuesday.

“It was always a dream of mine to be on the ice playing against this calibre of players and I’m here now, living the dream.”

Wyrostok is in the midst of a career-best season, recording 20 goals with 34 points in 50 games.

“I love his identity of who he is and how he plays,” said Swift Current head coach Devan Praught, post-game.

“He kind of plays that Bronco identity of that no quit and he’s got a nice skill set that compliments it.”

The Broncos and Tigers will face off again on Friday, March 24 in Swift Current. The following day, Wyrostok will get another opportunity to play in Medicine Hat when the Broncos take on the Tigers in their final home game of the 2022-23 regular season.
