Convicted sex offender has more jail time added to his sentence

MEDICINE HAT, AB — A man previously convicted of six sexual assault-related charges will serve additional time in prison.

Claudio Tovar Aguliar was sentenced to two four-year terms on Feb. 6 on charges of sexual contact and sexual counselling involving two minors.

The new terms are concurrent but will be added to his original seven-year sentence from his previous convictions in January 2022.

The latest charges were laid by Medicine Hat Police Service in September of 2021, and relate to incidents that occurred between 2008 and 2012.
