Feb 11, 2023 | 2:30 PM

The Alberta government is spending $150,000 to provide free workplace safety training to high school students.

By partnering with organizations like SafeGen, a workplace safety education group, students will be empowered as they explore and build their careers, the province says.

SafeGen has assisted schools in Alberta, Saskatchewan and the Northwest Territories to implement the JobSafe Program into curriculums. It’scurrently used by more than 200 schools, with more than 115,000 students having completed the courses.

Education Minister Adriana LaGrange says providing workplace health and safety is one of the many steps in preparing students for in-demand careers such as skilled trades.
