County funds community programs in 2023 budget

DUNMORE, AB – Cypress County’s 2023 budget plans fo more than $1 million in upgrades to family and community support programs and emergency services.

During its Dec. 6 meeting Cypress County approved its budget that will provide $390,000 to help fund 24 community programs including the Cypress County Library Board and Dunmore Community Association.

The HALO Air Ambulance program will receive $300,000, Another $5,000 has been allocated for SEASAR and more than $34,000 will be given to the Medicine Hat food bank to help keep their shelves full.

Community support centres also received support.

The Prairie Rose Public Schools will be provided $175,000 and Medicine Hat Family Services will receive more than $24,000.

Agriculture programs will receive more than $10,000 and economic development memberships will get $80,000.

Key projects include fire hall upgrades in Seven Persons and Irvine and a new community resource centre in Irvine.

The 2023 budget total sits at $1,050,800. Council expects residential taxes to remain the same for a second year in a row.
