Canada-wide warrant issued in connection to million-dollar drug bust in Edmonton

EDMONTON – Law enforcement officials are seeking a final suspect who is believed to be connected to a drug trafficking operation.

The Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT) says four suspects have been arrested, but a fifth, David Nguyen, 31, of Edmonton, is still wanted. ALERT did not provide a photo or description of Nguyen.

Officers laid a total of 30 charges against the five suspects in connection to a drug bust on Nov. 18, 2021.

Between the searches of three homes in Edmonton and vehicle stops in Red Deer and Whitecourt, ALERT claims to have confiscated more than one million dollars worth of drugs, as well as three handguns and cash:

  • Three handguns
  • 645 rounds of ammunition
  • 8,578 grams of meth
  • 1,317 grams of fentanyl
  • 2,850 milliliters of GHB
  • Three grams of cocaine
  • 57 opioid pills
  • 17,260 grams of buffing agents
  • 929 grams of unknown powders
  • $16,255 cash

The full list of the accused are as follows:

  • Zachary Edwards-Swanson, 22, of Grande Prairie
  • Keegan Johnson-Thomas, 31, of Edmonton
  • David Nguyen, 31, of Edmonton
  • Michael Suksawat, 27, of Surrey
  • Jason Suriyavong, 30, of Surrey
