Tigers get back in the win column

Nov 13, 2022 | 10:35 AM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The Medicine Hat Tigers snapped their losing streak in a big way Saturday, against the Moose Jaw Warriors.

After losing the first half of the home and home at Co-Op place, the Tabbies were looking to give the Warriors a taste of their own medicine at the Moose Jaw Events Centre.

The first period was tight, with the Warriors scoring early on the powerplay. That goal was wired passed the glove of goaltender Beckett Langkow, by forward Brayden Yager.

That 1-0 lead would hold for most of the period, but the Tigers would find a late answer on a fastbreak one-timer from Brenden Lee for his 7th of the season.

Tied 1-1 to start the middle frame Medicine Hat were looking for their first lead against Moose Jaw this season.

Just over a minute into the period, Shane Smith would sneak a backhand shot passed Connor Ungar to do just that for the Tigers.

That was just the start of the explosion for them in the period as three more unanswered goals would follow.

Lee would get his second of the night to make it 3-1, Brayden Boehm would score shorthanded to make it 4-1 and then he would grab a second himself to make it 5-1 headed into the third.

There would be no goals scored in the third period, and the Tigers would grab a win for the first time in 7 games.

All three stars of the game went to Medicine Hat, with the third star given to Boehm for his 2-goal performance.

The second star went to Langkow, who stopped 30 of the 31 shots he faced in the contest.

First star of the night was given to Lee for his 2-goal performance, with his first being the initial goal of the game for Medicine Hat.

The Tigers will be back in action Wednesday against the Brandon Wheat Kings, from Co-Op Place.

If not able to attend that game you can hear it live on Wild 94.4 with the voice of the Tigers Gino De Paoli.
