Medalta getting fancy with Black & White Gala

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Cancelled the past two years, the Medalta Black and White Gala is back on Saturday at the historic Medicine Hat venue.

Medalta executive director Mike Onieu jokes that they’ve had three years to plan this event.

“We’re excited to get people in for a brilliant dinner, auctions and raise some money,” says Onieu.

The money raised at the gala goes to support four lines of programming at Medalta: industrial heritage, youth programming, the international artists’ program and community events.

He says there are close to 50 live or silent auction items based around themes like music, food, hotel and artwork. Within the music them is the chance to get a piper to play at your event.

It’s about much more than money though, Onieu says.

“In terms of our year of fund development, this is our single most important and largest one-night fund development event. It’s not just a fundraiser though,” he explains. “We like the opportunity to bring people into a room who feel close to Medalta and who we interact with and say thank you for all the support, not just this year but throughout the years.”

Onieu says tickets are still available for the gala, which starts at 5:30 p.m. You can purchase them and find more information at medalta.org.
