Saskatchewan RCMP cancel dangerous person alert for homicide suspects

Nov 2, 2022 | 3:47 PM

REGINA – Saskatchewan RCMP have cancelled a dangerous person alert issued as part of a homicide investigation in the Melville area.

RCMP say in a written statement that a man was killed and another has life-threatening injuries in a shooting Wednesday morning near the Country Inn Motel in the city about 150 kilometres northeast of Regina.

Police say the initial investigation has determined that the shooting is not believed to be random and there is not a heightened risk to the public.

They say there have been no arrests and no information has been released about the suspect or suspects.

RCMP say there will continue to be an increased police presence on roads in and around Melville as the investigation continues, and Highway 10 and access to Third Avenue in the city will be closed temporarily.

The RCMP major crime unit has taken over the investigation with support from other specialized units and detachments from the surrounding areas.
