The vigil was attended by dozens of people who were there to support her family, including her husband and two sons.

During the service, friends and family released balloons and spoke about Tia’s life.

“She was a beautiful soul inside and out. She was always there,” said Tia’s friend Jennifer Many Bears. “Even when you didn’t want to talk, she had a way of making you talk and laugh without having to try.”

Tia’s friend Shirley Big Swallow told a story about their friendship at the vigil. “We would sometimes skip out of school together and go sit on the benches and just talk for hours,” Big Swallow said. “It got to the point where we were inseparable. She became my sister.”

Tia’s friends said it will be difficult not hearing from her or receiving memes from her every day.

Tia Blood’s family said in a release, “Tia was silly, non-judgmental, generous, loyal, dedicated and protective. She lived for her boys. She loved all children and was great with all of her relatives’ children.”

The statement continued, “She was a good student, and she put people before herself. A gentle woman, she liked her sweets and liked to bake. Tia took care of her health and was prayerful.”

Members of Tia Blood’s family asked the public to be mindful of the fact that they are grieving.
