LETHBRIDGE, AB – A Medicine Hat woman accused of first-degree murder has been ordered to remain in jail.

In a Lethbridge courtroom today, Melissa Martens-Lagasse was denied bail.

She was charged in November in connection to the death of 34-year-old Megan Eekma. The two were travelling together from B.C. to Alberta.

The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit says an interaction occurred, resulting in Eekma’s death near Pincher Creek.
