A Nunavut woman is facing local theft and fraud charges following an investigation started nearly one year ago.
Redcliff RCMP say they started an investigation in June 2021 after receiving a complaint from a business owner. RCMP now allege that a former employee had defrauded the company of more than $100,000 over a period of two years.
The suspect had since moved from Alberta and a warrant was issued. She turned herself in to Redcliff RCMP on April 19.
Christie Ann Chabot, 42, of Iqaluit, Nun., has been charged with theft over $5,000 and fraud over $5,000.
