Temporary road closure downtown next week

MEDICINE HAT, AB – One downtown block will be closed and motorists will need to take a small detour for about five days next week.

As of Monday at 9 a.m., Sixth Avenue SE between Second Street and Third Street will be closed for crews to complete a small sewer repair.

The city says the detour for motorists will be no more than one city block and there will be no access to the alleys off of Sixth Avenue for the duration of the closure. Sidewalks on the west side of Sixth Avenue remain open for pedestrian traffic.

The work will repair a deficiency in the sewer pipe in preparation for the sanitary sewer lining project later this summer.
