Exotic animals making a stop in Medicine Hat

MEDICINE HAT, AB – “Hello,” says a parrot part of YYC Nature and Education Centre.

The group is making a stop at the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede starting Friday through Sunday. The event will feature two rotating stage shows, featuring birds and mammals and reptiles.

You can meet kangaroos, wallabies, alligators, armadillos, skunks, tortoises and more. Owner Jason Clevett says their exhibits are equally fun and educational.

“The important thing is mainly backyard conservation and worldwide conservation. Helping people understand the important role these animals have in our environment,” Clevett said. “Snakes for example are very misunderstood, especially around Medicine Hat. People think rattlesnakes are super scary but there have been 20 bites in 20 years in Alberta.”
