HALO Lottery takes off for second year

MEDICINE HAT — A popular fundraiser for HALO air ambuance will be returning this spring, and it has the potential to raise 300 thousand dolars, or about ten per cent of their operating revenue for the entire year.

The pandemic showed HALO they could no longer rely solely on an in-person fund raising model, and they would have to diversify.

That’s how last year’s lotto, dubbed Cattle or Cash, was born and it sold out in six weeks.

HALO C-E-O Paul Carolan says they’ve made some tweaks for this year’s lotto, which is now called Cattle or Cars.

“So this year, the grand prize is 25 bred heifers from High Line Angus or a 2022 Volkswagen Atlas Crosssport from Medicine Hat Volkswagen,” explains Carolan.

Carolan says they will launch the lottery this Thursday at the High Line Angus bull sale, which is the same place where they launched last year’s lotto.

“And once we get that kicked off in person tickets will again be available on line at www.haloairambulance.com” says Carolan.

Carolan says tickets cost $100 each, and there will also be an additional option to buy a 50/50 ticket for a potential shared jackpot of $100 thousand.

The winning tickets will be drawn at the annual HALO in the hangar event in June.
