Officer-involved shooting in central Alberta

An officer-involved shooting in Ponoka ended in the suspect being airlifted to hospital with critical injuries

At about 9:35 a.m. RCMP received a report of an armed individual near the detachment holding a weapon.

A confrontation occurred between the suspect and an officer resulting in the officer discharging their service weapon.

The suspect was given first aid until he was airlifted to hospital with critical injuries.
