Pump track expected to be open in May

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Mountain bike enthusiasts will have a new pump track to use this spring.

The track, which is under construction beside Gas City Campground, is being funded through the provincial Municipal Stimulus Program. It will include two tracks and a parking lot.

More mountain bike trails are also being constructed in the area, connecting the campground to Echo Dale.

The pump track project started last August and project manager Mike Hirsch says it’s being built on budget.

“What’s remaining on the project here is the asphalt and beneath the asphalt is their base and the slope and landscaping beside the trails,” Hirsch said.

The track is expected to be completed in May and will be ready for this year’s mountain biking season.
