MEDICINE HAT, AB – 2021 was an impactful year for KidSport Medicine Hat and Redcliff.

The nonprofit helped 163 kids get off the sidelines.

KidSport helps cover sports registration expenses for kids under 18. In 2021, the local branch granted $44,376.58 to local athletes.

Chair Connelly Sherwick says this is a 35 percent increase from the first year of the pandemic, meaning more kids are getting back in the game.

“We’ll provide each child with $300 per year to play a sport or they can play multiple sports if they can make that $300 work across one or two different sports,” Sherwick said. “We have some great fundraising volunteers, we have the funds available and we can help any kid to play who deserves to play.”
