Jan 25, 2022 | 11:17 AM

A pair of high-profile local murder cases were adjourned today in provincial court.

Deborah Belyea was charged with second-degree murder for the October death of her husband Alf.

The remains of the Cypress County councillor were found on Oct. 15, four days after he was reported missing. Deborah was charged the following day.

Defence lawyer Katherine Beyak told the court they are attempting to comply with a Queen’s Bench release order that was issued before Christmas and asked for a one-week adjournment.

The matter will be back in court Feb. 1.

Julian Morris is charged with second-degree murder in the death of Dylan Denault. His body was found on a rural road south of Medicine Hat on Jan. 15, 2020.

Morris was charged on Jan. 17, 2022.

He is currently a serving inmate at the Bowden Institution in central Alberta. His matter was adjourned to Feb. 22 so he can apply to Legal Aid for assistance finding a lawyer.
