All teachers in compliance with Medicine Hat Public School Division’s COVID-19 Harm Reduction Policy

MEDICINE HAT, AB – All staff and adults who enter any Medicine Hat Public School Division buildings now have to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

The policy was passed on October 12 and gave until November 30 to be enforced. It was implemented by the SD76 board to help protect staff, students and the community from COVID-19.

Staff and adults can also present proof of a negative rapid-test taken within 72 hours.

As of Wednesday, superintendent Mark Davidson says every teacher is in compliance with the policy and the district is working with three support staff to find an alternative solution.

“We are at 99.6 percent of staff who are compliant with the policy,” Davidson said. “We have a handful, fewer than five, who we are working with to help them find their way, see what they want to do and if they’ll stay or not.”

The policy only applies to adults as SD76 does not have the authority to mandate vaccinations for students.
