Market series launches with Jingle Mingle this weekend

Nov 29, 2021 | 12:18 PM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – A Canada-wide market group that has its roots in southern Ontario and Nova Scotia will debut in Medicine Hat this weekend.

The Jingle Mingle Market will be held at Badlands Training Centre near the Medicine Hat Tourism Centre on Dec. 4 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Chloe Kilkenny is the Medicine Hat director of the Mom Market Collective. She says she and her daughter Nixon have been working since September to launch the local markets to support local small businesses.

“So that everybody can shop local and see how many amazing businesses we have right here in Medicine Hat,” Chloe says.

“Especially with the shipping delays and things they’re talking about on the news right now, it’s going to be an amazing opportunity for everybody to be able to get their shopping lists done and see what there is available in Medicine Hat. I’m even surprised by the amazing and the variety of vendors that have come up.”

More than 40 vendors will be at the market selling everything from artwork and clothes for all occasions to giftware and jewelry and offering health and beauty services. Badlands will offer some demos and information on classes at the centre.

Admission is free.

Chloe says this weekend’s market is just the start for her and Nixon and Mom Markets in the area.

The next market is set for Feb. 12 and planning is underway for a spring market. There will also be what Chloe calls a “giveback” event in January.
