Two local students have achieved a major milestone for new scientists.

Daphne Thompson, a Grade 12 student at Eagle Butte High School, and Victoria Rooks, a Grade 9 student at Senator Gershaw School, have had their research work published in Canadian Science Fair Journal.

“Not only are countless hours put into a top quality science fair project, but over a year went into diligently working with publishers and editors to make these two young scientists dreams a reality,” reads a statement from the Kiwanis Regional Science Fair.

It’s a true testament to the value of the science fair in the community, the statement continues.

“The Kiwanis Regional Science Fair Committee dedicates countless hours each year to allow students an opportunity to showcase their passion for science and learning. There is no other experience comparable to it.”
