COVID-19 vaccine plans for children roll out across the country

Nov 22, 2021 | 9:16 AM

Parents across the country are learning how soon their children can get a COVID-19 vaccine appointment now that the pediatric Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine has been approved by Health Canada.

Ontario parents can start making appointments for their eligible kids between five and 11 on Tuesday.

One-third of new COVID-19 cases in the province are in school-aged children.

Ontario officials say they are expecting 1,076,000 doses of the children’s vaccine from the federal government — a little over 400,000 of that to arrive today.

Manitoba parents can start booking their children for a dose today and some may get the shot as early as this week.

That province plans to use previous vaccine infrastructure — community clinics, hospitals and pharmacies — as well as school clinics to get the vaccine out.
