Hatter facing firearms, stolen property charges

MEDICINE HAT, AB – A Medicine Hat resident has been charged after an illegal shotgun and identity documents were found at his residence.

According to the Medicine Hat Police Service, members of the ALERT Regional Property Crime Unit arrested and charged the male on Aug. 26.

Police say a sawed-off double-barrel shotgun and ammunition was recovered at his residence, together with the identity documents and financial data of eight victims. The male was serving a conditional sentence order in the community following recent prior convictions.

Austin Lane, 25, remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
