Erratic driver arrested near Swift Current
SWIFT CURRENT, SK — Members of the Maple Creek RCMP were among several police agencies in southwestern Saskatchewan that helped get an erratic driver off the Trans-Canada Highway on Wednesday night.
Reports began to come in around 7:30 p.m. of an erratic car travelling at a high rate of speed eastbound on the No. 1 near Gull Lake.
The vehicle’s windshield was smashed out and the driver had been stopping and starting multiple times, driving in the wrong direction, turning around and stopping in the passing lane.
As police officers were following the car, the vehicle accelerated upwards of 200 kilometers per hour and then abruptly stopped multiple times. For officer safety reasons, a spike belt could not be used.
