HALO flying into new gala event

MEDICINE HAT, AB – HALO Air Ambulance is launching its debut gala-style formal event next month, Turf to Tarmac.

CEO Paul Carolan says the event will take place at the airport in the HALO hangar and will have with a really cool feel.

“A really, really locally-inspired multi-course menu,” he said. “We’re working with our supplier and different people that support the program and small businesses both within Medicine Hat and around Southern Alberta.”

Carolan says each course will be paired with a drink from a local brewery or Grit City Distillery and they’ve partnered with Heritage Events and Earls Catering.

Following dinner, Canadian country singer Jess Moskaluke will perform.

Carolan says that to grow HALO they focused on getting the message out to the rural areas, and that’s where most of HALO’s events and operations take place.

But they can’t forget where HALO is based, he says.

“This is where we’re initiated and this where we grew up. So having an event that’s in Medicine Hat and recognizes the local support that we have was really important to us,” Carolan says. “So this is a great fit for us at the hangar where it’s a unique opportunity for people to come and be a part of something right at the hangar and that’s where the tarmac comes in. Sort of an affectionate name there. So recognizing the support we have in the city as well as that rural connection we have is the inspiration for the event.”

He adds having signature events like this where supporters can enjoy an evening out is one way to keep the program going and keep the helicopter in the air. All proceeds from the event will go to HALO.

Turf to Tarmac will take place Oct. 7. Tickets are limited and available by calling 403-528-9088 or emailing info@halorescue.ca.
