City introducing Medicine Hat Transit day pass

Aug 17, 2021 | 12:00 PM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Medicine Hat Transit is launching a new day pass on Aug. 23 to take the place of transfers.

Transfers were suspended in the spring of 2020 due to pandemic restrictions.

“With this pass, riders can plan to make a few stops on their trip without feeling the pressure of catching their next bus within the hour,” said Mike Spicer, manager of transit. “We continue to review our current service levels and are committed to offering an efficient service to all of our riders.”

The day pass will be available to all riders for $6.50 each day and can be purchased when boarding a transit bus.

The city also says single-ride fare will be reinstated at $3.25 effective on Monday.

“We understand that our riders depend on our buses to get them to where they need to go, whether it be to appointments or the grocery store,” said Spicer. “We believe that by introducing the day pass, transit remains an affordable option for the people who need it the most.”

Masks remain mandatory for riders following the province’s announcement last week.
