UPDATE: RCMP say missing Brooks teenager found and is safe

UPDATE: RCMP have confirmed that Maria Povagenuc, missing in Brooks since early this morning, has been located and is safe.

The City of Brooks as well as Brooks and Newell Safe Communities both posted on social media that the teen was found safe at about 4 p.m.

BROOKS, AB – RCMP in Brooks are searching for a missing teenager and asking for the public’s help.

Maria Povagenuc, 15, was last seen at about 12 a.m. on Aug. 5 at her residence near Lake Stafford in Brooks.

Maria is described as 5-foot-7, 135 lbs with a slim and tall build. She is Caucasian with long blonde hair and was last seen wearing a white short sleeve blouse and light pink flower skirt.

In a social media post, Medicine Hat police say Maria may possibly be headed to the Medicine Hat area. They are asking people to let RCMP know if you see her or have any information that could assist in locating her.
