Active COVID-19 cases slowly rising in Medicine Hat and province

There are 606 active cases in the province, up one from Monday, and 229,951 recovered cases in the province, up 66.

Alberta’s total cases from the start of the pandemic is 232,875.

There are 69 new cases in the province today, and 17 more variant of concern cases have been identified.

There are now 98 Albertans in hospital with COVID-19, 27 of which are in ICU, and 2,318 deaths.

The province completed 5,010 tests in the past 24 hours.

The positivity rate is about 1.4 per cent.

Alberta has administered 5,078,635 doses of vaccine at the latest update.

Province-wide, 74.8 per cent of Albertans 12 years old and up have received at least one dose of vaccine and 60.2 per cent are fully vaccinated.

Among Albertans of all ages, 63.7 per cent have received at least one dose of vaccine and 51.2 per cent are fully vaccinated.

There are 28 active cases and 12,379 recovered in the South Zone. The death total in the zone is at 136.

An AHS spokesperson told CHAT News on Monday AHS South Zone currently has four COVID-19 positive individuals in hospital. There are two at Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge, one at Medicine Hat Regional Hospital and one at the Pincher Creek Health Centre.

The province-wide reproductive value for the week of July 5-11 is 0.84. It is 0.88 in Calgary Zone, 0.97 in Edmonton Zone and 0.69 in the rest of Alberta.

Cypress County has totaled 303 cases. There are two active cases, 300 recovered and one death. The latest vaccination rate for all ages is 50.6 per cent.

The County of Forty Mile has 157 total cases. There are no active cases, 154 recovered and there have been three deaths. The latest vaccination rate for all ages is 30.2 per cent.

The MD of Taber has 572 total cases — no active cases, 566 recovered and there have been six deaths. The latest vaccination rate for all ages is 36.7 per cent.

Special Areas No. 2 has 105 total cases – one active case, 103 recovered and there has been one death.

Brooks has 1,503 total cases — one active case and 1,487 are recovered. Brooks has recorded 15 deaths.

The County of Newell has a total of 248 cases — one active case, 244 recovered and there have been three deaths. The latest vaccination rate for all ages is 49.7 per cent, including Brooks.

The County of Warner has 468 total cases. There are no active cases, 465 are recovered cases and there have been three deaths in the county. The latest vaccination rate for all ages is 46.2 per cent.

The City of Lethbridge has a total of 4,843 cases. There are seven active cases, 4,797 recovered and there have been 39 deaths. Lethbridge County has 1,264 cases, one active case, 1,250 recovered and there have been 13 deaths.

Not all the areas on the vaccination data map match the case count map.

The figures on alberta.ca are “up-to-date as of end of day July 19, 2021.”

Saskatchewan has a total of 49,472 cases, 242 considered active. There are 48,655 recovered cases and there have been 575 COVID-19 deaths in the province.

Saskatchewan has delivered 1,353,307 doses of vaccine.
