Officials with the Calgary Stampede have declared this year’s event a success, despite attendance numbers taking a major hit.
They say daily attendance numbers have averaged around 50,000 people, but note a more detailed tally will be available today after the gates closed on the event last night.
Officials say 73 per cent of the attendees were Calgarians, 13 per cent were from other areas in Alberta and 12 per cent were from other parts of Canada.
They say they were proud to host the Stampede as the first large-scale event in Alberta since the start of the pandemic.
